When you receive an ADHD diagnosis, it only describes a series of behaviors. It does not identify the cause of the behavior. There are many possible causes to ADHD symptoms. Thorough diagnosis is imperative. Until you know the cause, you cannot accurately treat the problem.
ADHD applies to adults as well. Though it is commonly diagnosed in children, it can follow you into your adulthood. If you have an ADHD child, you may also have symptoms.
Evaluation
I use a stepped diagnostic procedure so that the client receives a thorough evaluation. His evaluation is based on objective testing as well as subjective questionnaires and observation. After a thorough evaluation, we will discuss all of the treatment options.
Treatment
Many conditions demand a combination of treatments. The appropriate treatment depends on the actual problem. Stimulants only treat one type of ADHD. Neurofeedback is an alternative, non drug treatment. It has been used for over 20 years with good success.
